I've missed my June checkin for getyourwordsout, I am so behind on any personal writing, and I've only a handful of prompts I'm seeing myself capable of doing for notprimetime treats. D: D: D: Need a day off from work that's not a weekend where I'm trying to take a day off from doing anything; god almighty.

... was like empty calories, but good empty calories. Loved the women, but wow, such plot, so Great War trope, wow.

Grading Day!

Well, I got through my grading. It wasn't the best, I couldn't get the vocab word she asked me, but the practical side wasn't bad and I think the kata were decent. It's hard because I have a hard time reading where I'm at. Every once in a while I get something and it's like 'ah ha! That's how it used to feel!' but I'm not getting that consistently. However, I don't know if I'm a good blue-testing-for-purple, or a mediocre one or what.

I am running into tightness in the front of my hip that's preventing a stance like I used to have.

I think the 3 years off wasn't great, but the 3 years off between the ages of 27-30 was a particularly bad range. It feels like it's taking me longer to get back than it should.

But, did grading! We'll get the results next week I guess.

Been busy trying to stay alive at work, sustain a single-income household, and gardening to keep sane. Snipped to death all the greens that were kind of stunted today, and filled with beans and cucumber seeds because I have no idea what to grow under the blasting heat of the midday sun. Something about mad dogs and Englishmen.

God I miss writing.

2 weeks to Japan!

This is starting to feel really real. Spent this weekend buying some last minute things, like new luggage (existing luggage is all carry-on sized as we've never done the long trips before), I bought a couple of neck pillows for the flight, see which one is more comfortable and return the other. Bought a pair of noise canceling earbuds, we'll see how they work. Also picked up a bunch of Discworld, because I've read everything, but don't own most of them and what I do own half is in hardback and they're good plane books.

I should go dig around for some fannish works again, a 13 hour flight might be a good time to get back into reading fic. Note to self: Spend next weekend on AO3.

Things on order:
Packable hat
Neck pillows
Packable duffle (in case of buying too much while there)
Noise canceling headphones
Luggage
Shoes

Things left to get:
Pick up packing cubes
Laundry soap for sink washing
Coin Purse/smaller wallet

Things to do:
Decide how I want to deal with period stuff while there. I have the diva cup but I overflow so quickly on heavy days (4 hours) that I always wear lunapads/lunapanties as backup with it. Might just use disposables as backup for less hassle. Might still bring lunapads just in case I'm feeling keen.
